Sophie and Julien defined the rules of the game. They are, for the rest of their lives, the arbiters and often the victims. “Course or not course?” “Course! Of course! “They are cap of everything: the best and the worst. To flout all the taboos, to defy all the prohibitions, to defy all the authorities, to laugh, to get hurt. Cape of all things!? except, perhaps, to admit that they love each other.
This game starts with an innocent bet: a bet to forget that Mom is seriously ill, to forget when the whole class calls you a dirty polak. And a few bets later, the game becomes the most beautiful and strongest thing in the lives of the two children.
They play, they love each other? The game, the love? Love, the game: finally it is so much easier to be friends. And so life passes, the game remains, more and more intense, like passion. And every time they say “Cap!” back to each other, they say “I love you more than my own life.” “More than my own life?” “Cap!”
